Version 2.0 Beta
Mander Matcher is a research project of the McGarigal Landscape Ecology Lab at UMass-Amherst. The project uses digital photos and cutting-edge pattern recognition algorithms to implement the capture-mark-recapture method, for long-term studies of salamander ecology.
In the current phase of our research, we are studying errors associated with amphibian photographic identification. We need your participation to do this! To participate, we ask you to first (1) complete a brief background questionnaire; and (2) familiarize yourself with the quirks of amphibian shapes and skin by doing some practice comparisons. Once you've done those two things, we will ask you to compare amphibian photos taken in the field.
